The Sony HDR-XR500VE features a 12x optical zoom, and the capacity to record up to 50 hours of full HD video onto the integrated 120GB hard drive.
Like many of Sony’s newer camcorder models the XR500 has an internal GPS allowing you to geo-tag your recordings and locate them on a map when reviewing your footage.
The Exmor R™ CMOS Sensor is extremely sensitive making the HDR-XR500 a powerful ally when shooting in low light conditions. Where some camcorders struggle with low light recording and produce grainy results the combination of the sensor and BIONZ processor ensure the HDRXR500 produces great results in low light, dim interiors and at dusk.
As you would expect from a camcorder of this caliber, image stabilization and face detection come as standard. The image stabilization is in the form of Sony’s Optical SteadyShot with Active Mode which will keep your footage shake free, even when walking while filming.
The Sony XR500 will record high definition video footage right up to 1920×1080 resolution and can playback footage at full HD 1080i quality.
The display of the Sony HDRXR500 is a 3.2” LCD screen with a touch screen interface. The touch screen allows you to navigate the camcorders menu system with ease and provide quick access to the most common functions when recording.
